Directions for Use

  • Assess the patient and identify the material that must be removed.
  • Carefully position the rounded lower blade between the patient and the clothing or bandage.
  • Keep the blade angled away from the patient’s skin.
  • Cut with deliberate, controlled movements while continuously monitoring the blade’s position.
  • After use, clean and disinfect the shears according to established infection-control procedures.
  • Inspect the blades, handles and pivot before returning the shears to service.

Cleaning and Care

  • Remove blood, dirt and other visible material promptly after use.
  • Clean and disinfect using products compatible with the blade coating and handle material.
  • Avoid abrasive cleaners or pads that could damage the black finish.
  • Dry thoroughly before storage.
  • Inspect for corrosion, damaged coating, loose components, cracks or reduced cutting performance.
  • Replace the shears if damaged or no longer functioning properly.
  • Do not autoclave unless the manufacturer has confirmed that both the coating and handles are autoclavable.
